Peter Voulkos, Bronze: 1986-2002
Reception: October 8, 2005, 3-5 pm
Peter Voulkos began working in bronze in 1960
with Don Haskin & Harold Paris
at the "Garbanzo Works" foundry. Through the years all of the public
commissions that Peter received were cast in bronze. Voulkos would continue working
predominantly in bronze until 1968 when he exhibited with the Quay Gallery. In
1986 he decided to cast his ceramic works in bronze. Over the years Voulkos would
continue to select his most important pieces for casting. This will be the first
comprehensive survey of Bronzes by Peter Voulkos in San Francisco, California.
