Michael Stevens | Against the Grain
Reception: September 11, 2004

The cultural impact of radio and television are reflected in the mixed media constructions of Michael Stevens, who is part of the last generation where radio programs had a direct effect on day to day life.

Pluto, Mickey Mouse, & Charlie McCarthy all appear in Stevens' work. He also uses found objects, but not in an obvious manner. They blend into the art, acting as kickbacks or residuals that tell you the history of a culture.
