Kyle Reicher - New Work
Reception: Saturday, October 11, 2003, 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Metal sculptor Kyle Reicher presents totemic works in bronze and steel. Working with familiar forms such as the cup & saucer, box, cane, and envelope, Reicher creates narratives that lead the viewer to accommodate and assimilate ideas regarding the way these objects and materials touch and support one another.

" Using materials like bronze or steel takes the form out of its original context. " says Reicher. "The materials bring their own qualities to the work. The warmth of oxidized steel alludes to time and decay, while a patina of gunmetal blue appearing hard and cold entombs and isolates."

Kyle Reicher received his MFA from Wichita State University and a Fulbright Fellowship to study in Tallinn, Estonia.
