Artist Biography

Aaron Petersen's paintings draw on the interface between the urban environment and the natural world. "In my version of our environment," states Petersen, "invisible energies collide with imperceptible natural forces to form abstract movements of paint."

Petersen creates work that combines areas of dense activity with those of sublimely washed veils of color.  The paintings, presented on three inch deep aluminum boxes, hover between chaos and control, as whizzing, dripping, and diaphanous forms sit in contrast to the clean edge of the frame.

Aaron Petersen is a graduate of the California College of Arts, San Francisco, California.
