Artist Biography

Painter Tom Bolles' art focuses on specifically formal concerns: the aesthetic relationship between medium and material, the conceptual impact of size, shape, & color in creating works that resonate with the viewer, the juxtaposition of historical imagery and contemporary form.

The new paintings, on canvas mounted on Plexiglas, pursue a monochromatic minimalism that changes with light to reveal a luminous interior with a strong surface finish.
